Suspected Malignancies of Oral Cavity

Pre-referral work-up
History
May present as non-healing ulcer or non-healing tooth socket
All referrals should comply to the referral standards and include in particular:
- Alcohol and smoking history
- Dental history
- Examination for non-healing ulcers, rolled margins, induration, erythoplakia and leukoplakia

- OPG

? Suspected malignancy
Urgent referrals should be accompanied by a phone call to the Consultant/Registrar to organise urgent review and the referral must be faxed.
We will endeavour to see these patients within four weeks, or sooner if clinically indicated.
