Pre-referral work-up
History
Accept referrals from GP's in relation to existing patients requiring assistance. However start-up referrals only accepted from Paediatricians or PEG nurse.
All referrals should comply to referral standards referral standards and include in particular:
- Growth or weight history
- Known food allergies and intolerances
- Please ask the patient or carer to take a copy of their feeding regime when they see the dietitian
Tests
Results of any tests appropriate for the referral type are helpful - such as allergy testing, gut function, bowel issues, renal dysfunction, general biochemistry etc.

THS Southern Region
Endoscopy Nurse Specialist manages most patients in Southern Tasmania and can give over-the-phone advice. Please contact Royal Hobart Hospital switch.
THS North West Region
Patients needing specialist advice can be referred.
