Pre-referral work-up
History
All referrals should comply to referral standards and also include:
- History of onset of condition
- Past and present treatments
- Previous surgery
- Co-morbidities in particular immunosuppression or diabetes mellitus
- Clear description of the lesion
- Current health and impact of lesion on ADLs
Tests
- Swab of purulent discharge
- FBE
- U&Es
- LFTs
- Culture results if relevant

Urgent (Category 1)
? Immunocompromised patients
Urgent referrals should be accompanied by a phone call to the Consultant/Registrar to organise urgent review.
We will endeavour to see these patients within four weeks, or sooner if clinically indicated.
