Pre-referral work-up
History
Southern referrals: Consider suitability for outpatient hysteroscopy - see hysteroscopy pathway
All referrals should comply with referral standards and include in particular:
- Menstrual history including details of menopause
- Medication history (contraception, HRT particularly oestrogen only regimens)
- Sexual history including history of PID
- Examination findings including any genital tract abnormalities (polyps, abdominal mass)
Tests
- Pap smear
- HVS
- Transvaginal pelvic ultrasound
- Pregnancy test (unnecessary over 55 years)
