Pre-referral work-up
History
All referrals should comply to the referral standards and also include:
- History of making diagnosis as is often asymptomatic
- History of thirst, polyuria, renal colic, anorexia, constipation, nausea or vomiting
- History of fatigue or confusion
- History of usual causes - primary hyperparathyroidism, other malignancies including myeloma, sarcoidosis
Tests
- Serum total calcium, albumin and ionised calcium
- U&E Cr, Phosphate, Mg2+
- Parathyroid hormone paired with Ca2+
- Bone densitometry

? Severely symptomatic hypercalcaemia
