Scope
Non-medical circumcisions are not performed.
Referral process
A referral (preferably faxed) is required for all new appointments and must conform to the referral standards.
All Paediatric Surgical referrals are triaged according to clinical guidelines.
Generic referrals (e.g. To Paediatric Surgeon) will be distributed amongst three consultant Paediatric Surgeons and booked according to urgency and waiting time
Referrals with named consultant will be booked into the named consultant's clinic. If the consultant is away for a period of time and the matter is of some urgency, the referral will be triaged to the other consultant Paediatric Surgeon.
Appointments are based on clinical priority.
Where available, eReferral via HealthLink smart forms is now the preferred and only secure method of referral to the Tasmanian Department of Health.
