Pre-referral work-up

History

Southern referrals: Consider suitability for outpatient hysteroscopy - see hysteroscopy pathway

All referrals should comply with referral standards and include in particular:

• Menstrual history including details of menopause
• Medication history (contraception, HRT particularly oestrogen only regimens)
• Sexual history including history of PID
• Examination findings including any genital tract abnormalities (polyps, abdominal mass)

Tests

• Pap smear
• HVS
• Transvaginal pelvic ultrasound
• Pregnancy test (unnecessary over 55 years)
