Persistent Pain Self Management program
What is the Persistent Pain Self Management Program?
A six-week program – for 2½ hours per week. It is run in small groups of 10 to 15 people with two trained leaders.
The program is delivered in towns across North West and Southern Tasmania.
Who is it for?
The program is for anyone living with ongoing pain, as well as people supporting someone with pain.
Self-management skills can be useful for everyone.
What is the program about?
The Persistent Pain Self Management Program offers practical ideas and tools to help you overcome the challenges of living with pain.
What can you learn about?
- New ways to deal with problems such as fatigue, isolation, and poor sleep.
- Exercise to maintain and improve strength and flexibility.
- Communicating with family, friends and health professionals.
- Appropriate use of medications.
- Healthy eating.
- Pacing activity and rest.
- How to check new treatments.
Each participant will be loaned a book to take home and use for the 6 weeks of the program. The book “Living a Healthy Life With Chronic Pain” also includes a Moving Easy Program CD.
What does it cost?
A gold coin donation each week to cover cost of refreshments.

Programs are delivered in towns across North West and Southern Tasmania. We can also run them online.
