Coronavirus update

Four cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Tasmania today. This brings the number of cases diagnosed in the State to 66.

Three cases were associated with the cruise ship Ovation of the Seas and one with Voyager of the Seas. All cases were already in quarantine.

Public Health Services continues to investigate two cases of coronavirus infection in the Devonport area in order to identify possible sources of their infection. Neither case had travelled overseas or been on cruise ships in the two weeks before their illnesses.

Public Health Services has established a Public Health Response Team to investigate the two cases.

A Tasmania Health Service Incident Management Team is leading the investigation into potential workplace sources of infection for the case who works at the Mersey Community Hospital.

The situation with coronavirus is changing regularly. People can stay up to date by visiting the Tasmanian Government’s coronavirus website at www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au or the Australian Government Department of Health
