Post fellowship practice and training
Tasmanian Rural Generalist Pathways
Doctors who have completed Rural Generalist (RG) training and have been awarded the FACRRM or FRACGP/FARGP qualifications may pursue a career in General Practice and in their field of Advanced/Additional Skills training. Employment and clinical privileges for Advanced Skills is determined by the state health jurisdiction.
RG doctors in their first post Fellowship year (FACRRM or FRACGP/FARGP) are encouraged to undertake an additional year to consolidate and enhance their RG skills. Working in a collegial environment helps prepare them for independent RG practice.
Post Fellowship opportunities include undertaking further Advanced Skills, College and University teaching positions, research, clinical leadership, international practice, humanitarian work, medicine in extreme environments, retrieval medicine, Royal Flying Doctor Service and Australian Defence Forces.
