Independent investigation into maternity services at the Royal Hobart Hospital
The Department of Health is committed to ensuring that every Tasmanian receives the best possible healthcare within a safe and supportive environment.
This commitment extends to all areas of healthcare and includes responsibilities to individuals accessing care through our midwifery services.
If we do not meet these standards, we must act to identify where we need to improve.
On 30 August 2024 the Department of Health commissioned an independent investigation into maternity services at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH).
The final report was released on 9 January 2024 and set out 38 recommendations that the Department has accepted and has committed to implementing in full.
