My Say, Our Voices book
My Say, Our Voices presents feedback from young Tasmanians about their ideas for how the Department can improve its services to children and young people. Feedback was collected in 2023 at workshops in Burnie, Launceston and Hobart with past patients who had accessed paediatric services.
My Say, Our Voices is being used to support Health workers to consider the practical ways they can strengthen their services to children and young people – such as:
- making clinical environments more engaging and welcoming of children, including providing fun activities for patients to do; and
- prioritising opportunities to give children a voice in their medical treatment, and the opportunity to give feedback.
If appropriate, Health work areas are also being encouraged to share My Say, Our Voices with patients and their families as an example of our efforts to hear and learn from young Tasmanians. Through tear-out pages, children and young people that access My Say, Our Voices will have the opportunity to share their own ideas as well. This feedback opportunity complements a new survey and mini-book feedback tool that were recently released. Learn more about these new tools.
The CSW Service acknowledges everyone who contributed to the development of My Say, Our Voices, including:
- the non-government stakeholders and clinical and operational staff who informed and supported this project; and
- project partners, Dr Simon Spain and Victoria Ryle, for their engagement expertise, facilitation of the workshops and co-development of My Say, Our Voices.
Most importantly, the CSW Service acknowledges the young people involved who shared their stories, insights and ideas for how the Department can strengthen its services to young people.
