The Social Workers at the Northern Cancer Service are happy to help with accommodation bookings for treatment and help reduce out of pocket expenses where possible.
North
Spurr Wing
Spurr Wing and Spurr Wing House offer patient accommodation within one-minute walking distance of the Launceston General Hospital.
- Located at 268 and 270 Charles St Launceston, accommodation caters for up to 20 adults in single, double and twin rooms.
- Also available is 1 x self-contained flat suitable for families and 1 x 2 bedroom apartment for adults.
- Linen is supplied excluding towels which are available for hire if required.

Marillac House
Situated in the CBD, Marillac House offers homely, affordable accommodation for patients and their carers travelling to Launceston for medical reasons.
- Single, twin and family rooms available.
- Disability access in 2 downstairs rooms including bathrooms, and lift access.
- 5 mins drive to hospitals.
- Rates approximately $80-$120 per night (1 - 4 guests) (Patient Travel Assistance Scheme subsidies if eligible).

North West
Onsite accommodation at NWRH
Patient accommodation units are available at the North West Regional Hospital to enable Cancer Centre patients who live more than 50km away to stay onsite to attend treatment.
- Units are 1 bedroom (max 2 people) or 2 bedrooms (max 4 people) self-contained units;
- Located a 2-minute walk from the Cancer Centre;
- Each unit is allocated one free car park;
- Laundry facilities and linen included;
- There is a minimal fee to stay in the units. The cost can be subsidised by PTAS for eligible patients. If you don’t hold a Pension Concession Card or Health Care Card (and are not eligible for PTAS) you will need to pay the first two nights.

South
Car Parking
The nearest car parks are the Argyle Street car park, opposite the hospital’s Argyle Street entrance and the Market Place car park, located opposite the Royal Hobart Hospital in Collins Street. Both provide day and overnight parking for a fee.
The RHH has an agreement with the Argyle Street Carpark to reduce the daily rate for patients and families if the car remains overnight. Please speak to your social worker to obtain further information on accessing this rate.
