Cancer services and pharmacy
Royal Hobart Hospital Haematology Oncology Pharmacy Team
The pharmacy department provides a number of services to patients who stay in hospital overnight and to those who visit for day treatments and other appointments. There are many staff who work in the pharmacy including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, administration staff and stores people.
Our pharmacists visit wards and departments to review and discuss patient’s medicines, doses, unwanted effects, and any allergies that patients might have. They also provide advice and support to doctors, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team about medicines. This is to make sure patients get the best from their medicines.
Our pharmacists also talk to patients on how to use their medicines and answer any questions the patient may have about their medicines.
