W.P Holman Clinic and Cancer Ward Auxiliary
Northern Cancer Service
Background
The Holman Clinic & Cancer Ward Auxiliary Incorporated (HCCWA), was formed in January 1979 by a group of dedicated women who saw the need to support cancer patients receiving treatment at the W.P. Holman Clinic and in the Launceston General Hospital (LGH). In January 2018 the Auxiliary celebrated 40 years of service.
HCCWA is a Not-for-Profit Auxiliary, with 100% of the funds raised and donations received, going toward the purchase of much-needed equipment and associated items, for the care and comfort of ALL cancer patients at the LGH.
The HCCWA raises funds through functions and events, including:
- Raffles
- Catering for functions
- Receiving donations
- Trade table
- Craft table
- Fashion Parades
- Soup & Sandwich luncheons
- In 2018 a Car Raffle & Cocktail Party.
If you would like to purchase tickets or information about one of our events, please contact the Secretary for details.
In 2018 the Auxiliary ran a car raffle in partnership with Buckby's Skoda to raise money for a sky ceiling, to support patients receiving radiotherapy treatment. The community support for this project exceeded all expectations, with two sky ceilings now planned. To find out how to donate to this or other programs (such as our weekly refreshments and treats trolley) run by the Auxiliary please contact the Treasurer.

Auxiliary meetings are currently held off site due to COVID on the second Tuesday of each month at 1:00pm. These meetings follow an Agenda but are fairly informal. We are a volunteer group working with a strong spirit of co-operation, and always welcome and value new members. Members say the time and effort put in on behalf of cancer patients brings great reward, satisfaction and pleasure.
