What is the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service?
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is an emergency service that provides aeromedical and search and rescue services to those in need. It is an integral part of Tasmania’s emergency services and is available to anyone who finds themselves in a critical situation. The service has highly skilled crew members who are called upon to respond to a variety of emergency situations.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service operates 24/7, 365 days a year and responds Statewide, including to the Bass Strait Islands. The service has been saving lives since 2000.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is a joint agency service delivered by specialist doctors and paramedics from Ambulance Tasmania; and aircrew and rescue specialists from Tasmania Police. The helicopters are provided under contract to the Tasmanian Government from local aviation company, Rotor-Lift; and financial support to the service is provided by Westpac. Westpac has supported the Service in Tasmania since 2000.
