Telehealth (NCS)
Tele-health clinics with the Northern Cancer Service
We run a range of different tele-health clinics. These are for both cancer patients and non-cancer patients. Your Oncologist or Haematologist may be able to use tele-health to follow up on your care. This often means you are able to save time travelling and can have your local healthcare professional involved in your care.
You may be asked to take part in a tele-health appointment in the following ways:
One of our doctors can call you at your local health centre or GP practice, sometimes your GP or a nurse will be with you.
You can visit your local cancer service and your doctor will call in from another site within the Northern Cancer Service. (for example, you can be in Burnie and your Doctor can be in Launceston).
You and your Oncologist or Haematologist might be in the same clinic and use telehealth to contact another specialist on the mainland. We commonly do these kinds of appointments for clinical trials and follow up care after a person has had treatment interstate.
