What is lung cancer?

Lung cancer starts when abnormal cells grow and multiply in an uncontrolled way. There are two main types of lung cancer: Non-small Cell Lung Cancer and Small Cell Lung Cancer.

Local support and information

• There are Cancer Care Coordinators available to support you during your cancer journey.
• Cancer Council Tasmania offer local support groups and practical assistance.
• Lung Boosters – Launceston.
  Many people with a lung condition find it hard to be physically active. Lung Boosters supports people to do this in a safe and comfortable way.
  Lung boosters is an 8-week program held at the Northern Integrated Care Service (NICS building) 41 Frankland Street Launceston.
  Any member of your health care team can refer you to lung boosters including your GP, ask one of your care team at your next appointment.
