Statewide Hospital Pharmacy
Statewide Hospital Pharmacy (SHP) services the Tasmanian Health Service in all areas of medication management and safety, including:
- Medicines supply
- Processing inpatient, discharge, and outpatient medications
- Manufacturing aseptic, cytotoxic, and extemporaneous medications
- Clinical pharmacy services for inpatient and outpatient settings
- Medication safety and usage evaluation projects
- Drug use evaluations
These processes are performed across each of the major sites or departments.
Medication costs
Medication costs to patients are standardised across the state.
Costs align to the current year’s concession card and general patient co-payment rates set by the federal government on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme website
Prescription requests
For all repeat prescription requests state-wide, please ensure a minimum of 2 working days before collection. Requests after midday Thursday will be available for pickup the following Monday.
Some specialist, high cost, or internationally sourced medications may require more notice.
