The Governance of the Department of Health, Tasmania consists of the Secretary who is also the Chair. The Secretary is supported by the Office of the Secretary and the Clinical Advisory and Consumer Advisory groups.

Reporting to the Secretary are the Health Executive, consisting of:

Executive Subcommittee
Reporting to the Health Executive are nine Executive Subcommittees consisting of:
- Audit and Risk
- Budget and Finance
- Clinical System Governance
- Emergency Management and Recovery
- Infrastructure Oversight
- People and Culture
- Statewide Health Environmental Sustainability Committee
- Strategic Information Management and Technology
- Work Health, Safety and Wellbeing
These subcommittees include clinician/consumer representation who drive improved and more timely decisions by the Executive and monitor delivery of key projects, outcomes and risks.
Local Management
Local Management report to both the Executive Subcommittees and the Health Executive. Local Management Includes:
- Ambulance Tasmania Executive
- Clinical Planning Taskforces
- Launceston General Hospital Executive
- North West Executive
- Operational Executives
- Project Steering Committee
- Public Health Executive
- Royal Hobart Hospital Executive
