2024 Winter Strategy and Plan

The objective of the 2024 Winter Strategy and Plan is to ensure Tasmania’s health system is well prepared to manage acute winter respiratory illness, with a focus on workforce planning, prevention, detection, and early treatment to minimise health harms and health system strain. 

The key elements of the plan are: 

• health system preparedness 
• clear and timely public communications 
• maximising vaccination uptake (for influenza and COVID-19) 
• ensuring those who will benefit from early access to treatment are aware of testing and treatment options 
• surveillance to understand patterns of disease and provide early warning of change in the risk of respiratory infection in the community 
• collaboration with key stakeholders, including primary care and high-risk and priority settings.
