Volunteering with Population Screening and Cancer Prevention
Are you interested in joining the fight against cancer?
The Department of Health recognises that volunteers can make a great contribution to the fight against cancer through the Consumer Reference Group and BreastScreen Tasmania Volunteer Program
Consumer Reference Group
Our Consumer Reference Group to consult the community on the effectiveness of our community engagement campaigns, publications and resources.
The group is made up of members from across Tasmania's diverse community who have battled cancer or know someone who has had the disease.
The valuable insight members share helps Population Screening and Cancer Prevention develop better cancer information and resources to raise awareness of the disease in the community.
About the Opportunity
Members of the Consumer Reference Group volunteer their time to attend three meetings per year.
The meetings are held in Hobart, with an online option available for people unable to attend in person.
Meeting papers are distributed to members before each meeting to allow time to review each item. Our current members spend no more than an hour reading for each meeting.
This is a great opportunity for people who are interested in cancer advocacy to help us improve our community education initiatives and win the fight against cancer.

BreastScreen Tasmania Volunteer Program
The BreastScreen Tasmania Volunteer Program supports women through the BreastScreen Program assessment process.
The program was created to provide practical and personal support for women as they undergo tests to determine whether or not they have breast cancer.
All volunteers must go through an application and selection process, which includes collecting references, and complete an orientation and on-site training.
