Group bookings
Booking a breast screening appointment with a group of women from your workplace, community, family or friends is a great way to support each other.
To help us accommodate larger groups and ensure the appointments run smoothly, we ask group booking organisers to provide certain information in advance.
Follow the steps below to organise a group booking.
Step 1 - Check eligibility
Before making a group booking, check whether the women in your group are eligible for the breast screening program.
Eligibility requirements:
- BreastScreen Tasmania can only screen women who are 40 years of age or over and due for their next mammogram (every two years).
- Women with existing breast symptoms, such as a lump or nipple discharge, should discuss this with their doctor before making an appointment.
- Women who have had a previous diagnosis of breast cancer are eligible to return to BreastScreen Tasmania if it has been five years since diagnosis. If unsure, check with your doctor or specialist.
Women must be contactable and available for four weeks after their appointment in case an abnormality is found and they are required to attend the Hobart clinic for assessment
Step 2 - Check group availability
A breast screening mammogram takes approximately 15 minutes. Check your group's availability at least six weeks ahead before contacting BreastScreen Tasmania.
Step 3 - Request a group booking
Complete the online form to request a group booking
Or the forms are available here:
Form A - BreastScreen Tasmania - Group Booking Detail Sheet
Form B - BreastScreen Tasmania - Group Booking Detail Sheet
Completing the form will not confirm an appointment time immediately. Requests are processed by our Contact Centre that operates 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. After receiving your request, BreastScreen Tasmania will contact you by telephone within two business days to propose an appointment date and time. If you would prefer to confirm an appointment sooner or to speak to a customer service representative, call us on (03) 6166 6910.
Step 4 - Provide personal details for your group booking
When BreastScreen Tasmania contacts you to confirm an appointment time, you will be asked to provide the personal details of each woman in your group.
The information you will need to provide for each woman in your group includes:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Postal address
- Telephone number
Please note: BreastScreen Tasmania requires the correct spelling of the full name, date of birth and postal address of each woman in your group.
Step 5 - Attend appointment
About seven days before your booking, BreastScreen Tasmania will send a confirmation letter and registration form to all women in your group in the mail. The form must be completed and brought to the clinic on the day of the appointment.
The group booking organiser will also receive a courtesy reminder seven days before the booking. If there are any changes to the group booking, please advise BreastScreen Tasmania ahead of time. BreastScreen Tasmania clinics run on a tight schedule. To avoid disappointment, ensure that all women arrive at the clinic at least 10 minutes before the appointment.
