The Tasmanian Government’s $3 million GP After Hours Support initiative was launched to help ensure more Tasmanians can access the essential services they need when they need to.
The funds’ purpose was to increase access to after-hours primary and urgent care services for Tasmanians regardless of where they live through different practice settings, including community pharmacies, general practice, and urgent care clinics.
To deliver on the Government’s commitment, the GP After Hours Support Initiative was conducted over two rounds - Round 1, General Practice and Pharmacy and Round 2, Urgent Care Services.
Round 1 (applications now closed)
Round 1 of the Initiative was open to applications from GPs and Pharmacies for funding of:
- Grants of up to $75,000 per pharmacy or GP practice for services provided 6 pm through to 11 pm weeknights, and 8:00 am-12 noon Saturday for a 12-month period (sociable after-hours period)
- Grants of up to $125,000 per pharmacy or GP practice for services provided 11 pm through to 8:00 am weekdays or 12 noon to 6:00 pm Saturday, and all-day Sundays and public holidays for a 12-month period (unsociable after-hour periods).
