Community Sector Relations Unit

Community sector organisations (CSOs) provide valuable services to Tasmanians. They include community, voluntary and not-for-profit activities aimed at improving the health and well-being of Tasmanians through:

• direct support such as disability, family and mental health services
• strategies for preventing or reducing the effects of chronic conditions.

Community sector funding

• We provide funding for approximately 250 CSOs for the delivery of services to Tasmanians.
• The Partnership Agreement sets out how government agencies and the community sector commit to working together to achieve a shared vision.
• The Quality and Safety Framework outlines our expectations of CSOs receiving funding. It both supports and contributes to the principles, goals and priorities of the Partnership Agreement.

Community Sector Relations Unit

Our Community Sector Relations Unit (CSRU) delivers a coordinated, standardised and strategic approach to working with our operational units and the community. This is achieved through:

• strategic planning and policy development
• grants management
• coordination of the Quality and Safety Standards Framework
• coordination, information and business support/shared services for Funding Agreement Managers.

Strategic Policy Team

The Strategic Policy team:

• coordinate the Peaks Network and Government Strategic Forum, the Partnership Agreement and all priorities from these initiatives
• provide a single point of contact for whole of government issues with the community sector
• manage the relationship with TasCOSS and the Industry Development Unit
• ensure consistent development and application of policy across all program areas (relating to grants administration, and quality and safety)
• engage with the community sector on strategic issues and initiatives.

Certificate of Currency

• The Tasmanian Risk Management Fund (the Fund) is the Tasmanian Government's self-insurance fund.
• It provides a whole-of-government approach to funding and managing specific identified insurable liabilities of participants.
• The Department of Health (Tasmania) and the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) are members of the Fund, which is managed by the Department of Treasury and Finance.
• A Certificate of Currency is issued each year to member Agencies to provide evidence to third parties that the Fund will meet losses for which the agency is legally liable.
