Jack Jumper ant allergies

Jack Jumper ants (Myrmecia pilosula) are also known as jumping jacks, hopper, or skipper ants. They are prevalent in Tasmania, South Australia, and Victoria.

In Tasmania, their sting is responsible for more cases of anaphylaxis than bee stings. Approximately 3 per cent of Tasmanians are allergic to Jack Jumper ants – and it can be life-threatening.

Jack Jumper ant venom products are manufactured under strict Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) guidelines at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

This product was developed in Tasmania by Royal Hobart Hospital and is used to provide treatment for jack jumper ant allergy in Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia.
