Eligibility criteria
Selection is a competitive process, and you must meet the following criteria to apply:
- due to complete/have completed an accredited undergraduate nursing course within the last 24 months
- have less than six calendar months experience as a registered nurse at the date of commencement
- hold the relevant registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- hold Australian citizenship, permanent residency or a visa permitting you to work in Australia
- comply with immunisation and conviction check requirements.
Tasmanian Health Service Transition to Practice (TtP) RN Campaign opens on 16 July 2024 and closes on 12 August 2024.

- The portal is only accessible during the defined recruitment campaign.
- We advertise application dates on the JobsTas website.
- If you are a registered nurse, you only need to submit one online application.
- Please provide details of two referees.

Special incentives for the TtP participants in 2025 and 2026
From 16 July 2024, there is an opportunity for TtP participants commencing in the 2025 and 2026 Transition to Practice program to receive scholarship funding.
The scholarship is aligned to the Expanded Support Program and will be available in two instalments of $5,000 per annum in years two and three of employment, where an employee can evidence undertaking additional study to progress their career in alignment with the intentions of the Expanded Support Program.
