The new state-of-the-art hospice in Launceston has taken another important step forward, with release of concept designs.
The purpose-built $20 million facility, funded by the Australian Government, at the Allambi Building on Howick Street will provide a minimum of 10 beds to cater for community members with life-limiting conditions and their families and carers.
The proposed facility will aim to replicate a home-like environment. The design promotes dignity, access and connectivity to the existing established garden and courtyard that are unique to the Allambi site.
Community Information sessions and consultation with key stakeholders on the new Launceston Hospice will be held in early 2025.
Construction for the hospice facility is expected to commence mid-2025 and is anticipated to be completed and open to accept patients in late 2026.
