Reportable Deaths and Death Reporting Processes in Tasmanian Public Hospitals

On 20th February 2024, the then Secretary of the Tasmanian Department of Health (DoH), Kathrine Morgan-Wicks, initiated a review into reportable deaths and death reporting practices within Tasmanian public hospitals following allegations of misconduct (the Review). Testimonies provided to the Select Committee on Transfer of Care Delays highlighted allegations about unreported deaths and falsified medical certificates at Launceston General Hospital (LGH).

The Final report was published on 28 June 2024.
