- You have the right to receive safe, high-quality care and services.
- You have the right to always be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of the type of care you receive.
- Your rights, and how your aged care service provider will support them, should be included in your provider’s care agreement.

Advocacy
- Advocacy is all about helping you to be heard and understood.
- If you are unable to speak for yourself, or find it difficult, Advocacy Tasmania can help you.
- They provide confidential, advocacy services for Tasmanians.
- These services are free of charge
- This includes if you live in residential aged care or receive home and community care.
Service eligibility
Advocacy Tasmania can assist you if you feel one or more of your following rights are at stake:
- the right to fundamental health and wellbeing relating to your receipt of good quality aged care, home care, disability, mental health and ATOD (alcohol and other drugs) services
- the right to be safe from harm and protected from abuse and neglect
- the right to shelter
- the right to freedom and personal liberty.
