The Child Safe Governance Review Governance Advisory Panel (the Panel) met for the ninth time on Tuesday, 29 November 2022 on location in Launceston with some participants joining online.
The meeting agenda focussed on:
- a report back from the Chair of the Lived Experience: Expert Reference Group
- a further discussion on the executive structure at Hospitals North
- a discussion on the draft recommendations of the Panel
Report from the Chair of the Lived Experience: Expert Reference Group
Dr Maria Harries spoke about her continued work with those who expressed interest in the Lived Experience: Expert Reference Group to enable input from the lived experience of victim-survivors to the Panel.
Maria has had ongoing communications with participants, and they have expressed that they are very keen to see a copy of the recommendations of the Panel before they are released. It was also noted that the Co-Chairs of the Panel will be meeting with the victim/survivors who have expressed an interest.
Executive Structure of Hospitals North
Co-Chair of the Panel, Deb Picone, spoke to a revised and more detailed copy of a proposed organisational structure for Hospitals North, including the second and third tier of the executive. The revised structure also includes representation of statewide and shared services, and more detail on clinical streams.
Recommendations of the Governance Advisory Panel
Members worked through the full suite of recommendations that have been developed throughout the process. A number of issues, corrections and clarifications were raised for consideration and the recommendations will be revised to factor these in.
The recommendations will now be provided to victim/survivors participating in the Lived Experience: Expert Reference Group to review before the report of the Panel is finalised.
Next Steps
This was intended to be the last meeting of the Panel. The observations, findings and recommendations of the Panel will be collated into a report to be submitted to the Secretary of the Department of Health for consideration.
