Healthy Tasmania provides opportunities for funded organisations to meet and connect with others, share information and learn from each other.
After meeting at a networking forum for Healthy Focus grant recipients in Hobart in December 2023, the organisations Eat Well Tasmania and Blueline Laundry discovered they were well placed to support each other’s work.
Eat Well Tasmania received a Healthy Focus grant to encourage all Tasmanians to connect with mates and consider a healthier meal alternative through their Plate with a Mate campaign. Blueline Laundry creates meaningful employment for people of diverse abilities, cultures and backgrounds. They received a grant for a workplace health and wellbeing program.
The two organisations built a relationship and held a joint Plate with a Mate event with the staff, management and board at Blueline Laundry’s Hobart site in May 2024.
This involved lunchtime activity where 120 Blueline Laundry staff participated in a cooking demonstration and a Plate with a Mate lunch.
Blueline Laundry continues to use Plate with a Mate resources and recipe cards to promote eating well to staff. The event was so successful that a similar event is planned for Launceston.
It showed what can be achieved through making connections, building partnerships and working together.
