The Kwirky Kids group provides support and shares information and resources for families in the Derwent Valley who have neurodivergent children or children with disability.
Kwirky Kids meet monthly at a local gated park, providing children with a safe and supportive space to meet new friends and have fun. It also enables parents and guardians to meet other families.
At Easter, funded by a Neighbours Every Day grant, Kwirky Kids brought together families for a special meet in the park, complete with chocolate eggs for an egg hunt and a barbecue lunch.
The event drew the largest numbers in the history of Kwirky Kids, with 25 children from the Derwent Valley community attending with their families.
As a result of the meet, Kwirky Kids attracted new members and provided parents and carers with the opportunity to chat with other families in similar situations, sharing advice and support.
