A Lift Local Grant has supported the Derwent Valley Council to collect data to inform strategic and collaborative planning to improve health and wellbeing in the area.
Council used the funding to develop a social profile, a snapshot in real-time of the community including its composition, wellbeing, strengths, aspirations and concerns. It provided insights into the hopes and dreams of residents and how Council could help people achieve them.
The main aim of the project was to capture the stories of the community around five key health and wellbeing topics. These include housing, primary care, economic safety social connections and healthy relationships.
Council wanted to know what people thought was working and what opportunities existed so it could collate information around the community’s vision for the future.
Council developed the social profile with the community and local service providers in 2024. It used the World Health Organization framework and set of indicators relevant to social wellbeing and combined this with data from community engagement.
The project enabled Council to look at a baseline of data that they could share with the community and measure over time. It will help inform collaborative planning around health and wellbeing, including how their Healthy Together grant will be used.
